Hi guys, we’d like to introduce ourselves to you. Our little family is 4 strong, and together we’ve got 8 legs and 4 wheels 😉 Clara our chef, Alwin our driver, Layla our dog, and Grisu our firetruck-camper!
For the last so many years, we have been full time snowsports instructors, making a living primarily of instructing skiing and snowboarding. Spending the winters on the southern hemisphere in exchange of summer. Apart from one winter in Australia, Queenstown in New Zealand has been our southern hemisphere home and currently it’s the 7th year of consecutive winters without summer-break..!
After we had done so many winters at home in Austria, we’ve made the move across the Atlantic to check out the Canadian snow for the northern hemisphere winter. From here we’ll be starting our overland trip down to South America in April 2019. And especially for this trip we’ve adopted our Grisu, who we’ll introduce a little more later.
Alwin has studied for PE Teacher and left uni actually with a bachelor degree, but then realized classical school teacher life wasn’t for him and started his snowboarding career. Clara has done ski instructing for a very long time, on and off, in combination with a “real life” but decided a few years ago it was time for a change. That’s when our journey together started.
And Layla, she’s just Layla.. An adorable mix of some Chihuahua and Pekingese flavour, running around on four legs.. playing the Sherlock Holmes and pretending to be a watchdog, but actually scared of a bin-bag on the side of the road.. But she sleeps most of the time anyway.
Our little family is driven by the snow, the mountains, new countries, unknown places, the adventure and the #vanlife culture. This all together makes it a trip we’ve been dreaming about for a long time, and the best moments in life are when dreams come true!
